June 14 - 19, 2015 Riga, Latvia Organized by Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and Latvian National Opera Supporters: Latvian Voice Teachers Association EVTA.LV Singers, born no earlier than June 15, 1982 (female) and June 15, 1980 (male), are eligible for participation in the competition. The competitor must be at least 18 years old. Competition Regulations will be available soon. Application deadline: March 1, 2015. AWARDS AND PRIZES: Grand Prix EUR 3000 and the title of laureate First Prize EUR 2000 and the title of laureate Second Prize EUR 1500 and the title of laureate Third Prize EUR 1000 and the title of laureate Runner-Up Prizes for other finalists, EUR 500 each The Jury has the right to award a prize for the best performance of a composition by J. Vītols, as well as a special prize for the best performance of a composition by J. Vītols, performed by a foreign national. Special prizes the laureates selected by the members of the Latvian National Opera artistic management team may receive offers to perform at a production of the Latvian National Opera, if the laureates artistic and professional levels of performance correspond to the requirements of the LNO repertoire opera productions. SCHEDULE: The competition takes place in 3 rounds. 24 singers are selected for participation. No more than half of the total number of participants will advance to Round II; no more than 6 participants will advance to Round III. The Jury has the right not to award certain prizes or to divide the prize money among several participants. The decision of the Jury is beyond appeal. Round III will take place at the Latvian National Opera with the Latvian National Opera Orchestra. The participation order will be established by drawing of lots the order will remain valid until the end of the competition. The prizewinners are obliged to participate in the awards ceremony without additional remuneration.
