Margrethe Fredheim (1987)

Margrethe Fredheim holds a Master’s Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, majoring in Opera.

During her time as an exchange student in the USA, Margrethe sang the role of Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust under the baton of Maestro Thomas Muraco. She also sang the role of Sister in Mikael Karlsson`s opera Decoration in frames of the New American Opera project From Page to Stage. She was selected for participation in a master class of Sir Thomas Hampson, which was broadcasted and streamed live from the Manhattan School of Music.

Other roles of Margrethe include Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at Tuscia Operafestival, Woglinde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold at the Norwegian National Opera, Musetta in Puccini’s La Boheme at Oslo Operafestival and Frau Fluth in Nicolai’s Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor at Theater Rudolstadt. Her most recent performance was at the Cairo Opera House gala concert with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra.

In 2014 she was a prizewinner in the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Singing Competition in Norrköping, the 7th European Opera Singing Competition in Weikersheim and the 6th China International Vocal Competition in Ningbo.

She recently performed her professional debut concert at the University Aula in Oslo, Norway. Margrethe will join the troupe of Theatre Erfurt for seasons 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
