Egidijus Kaveckas (1986, Lithuania)

 

Egidijus Kaveckas graduated from Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire where he gained a diploma in choir conducting (lect. Audronė Purlienė). During 2005-2011 he studied choir conducting in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (prof. Česlovas Radžiūnas). From 2012 E. Kaveckas has been doing his PhD. Both as a performer and choir conductor, he actively participates in academic concerts and music projects. Since 2005 he has been singing and is a second conductor (from 2009) of Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna Muzika. In 2006, he founded a vocal ensemble Balsai and actively participates in different concerts, festivals and competitions.

He has attended choir conducting master classes by Werner Pfaff (Germany), Erwin Ortner (Austria), Georg Grün (Germany), Erik Westberg (Sweden).

In 2007, E. Kaveckas won the 2nd prize at the country’s contest of conducting for High School students in Klaipėda. In 2009, E. Kaveckas won the 1st prize at the Young Conductors’ Contest of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius.

In 2009, with the vocal ensemble Balsai E. Kaveckas won the 1st place in the category of vocal ensembles and the Grand Prix in the International Stasys Simkus Choir Competition in Lithuania. In 2011, at the competition Silver Bells he won the 1st place in the category of vocal ensembles. In 2011, at the XII Choir Festival Tallinn 2011 E. Kaveckas won the 3rd place in the category of vocal ensembles.

The last conducted projects were Eriks Ešenvalds’ Passion and Resurrection (2013), Steve Dobrogosz’s Jazz Mass (2013), David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus (2014) etc.
